Heyjude

I have lived in the UK for most of my life, but when young I definitely had wanderlust and even ended up living in South Africa for several years which was a wonderful experience. I now look forward to a long and leisurely retirement doing what I like most - gardening, photography, walking and travelling.

    1. Thank you Gerard, it was a lovely peaceful spot, surrounded by tall reeds and only the sound of birds and the odd flap of a sail going by.

  1. Oh, I needed it to be a photo of a Coot. The Norfolk Broads always makes me think of The Coot Club (part of the Swallows and Amazons series by Arthur Ransome). I loved those books! Coot or no coot, I’m still so happy to see a photo of the Broads. 🙂

    1. There may be a coot in that picture H (I keep calling you Helen, but I think perhaps it is Heather? Better set me right on that or you’ll be called the wrong name forever!)
And if not you can pretend there is… 😉

        1. I must have seen a reference to Helen and it stuck in my mind. I do apologise [grovel, grovel…] and yet you come across to me as a Helen (strong and fearless like Helen of Troy, whereas I see Heather as being soft and gentle and quiet 😉 ] I’ll shut up now…

  2. This looks very much like my idea of serenity, Jude. Calm water is a fine choice for the challenge. Where is this lovely spot on the Broads? I haven’t been to Broads for years and years, nice to see a photo without a crowd there. 🙂
    Have a lovely weekend!
    Dina xo

    1. Thanks Dina, I love calm water too 🙂

This is taken at Ranworth – but along a lovely quiet boardwalk, not at the marina where we did see a lot of people berthed up for the night. And it was in mid August so probably the busiest time!

  3. The Broads can be very calm indeed Jude, and you were lucky to find this place without a lot of boats passing through at the time. Great shot.
    Regards as always, Pete. x

    1. Boats were passing to the right of us, to the marina but this part is private I think. It was a lovely evening. I love mid-summer evenings like this. Even the midges didn’t bother us 😉

  4. Both shots are lovely, but I like the sparseness of the first shot. It has a Taoist ‘simple but deep’ feeling. Or simple and expanding forever…
