A lovely spring walk in the walled garden at Croft Castle this weekend brought me to the pond. I like the pond, but so does everyone else so you have to be patientΒ and wait until almost closing time to have it to yourself.
The beech hedge is still brown, but the weeping willow is showing signs of new life and at last the bench isΒ empty of people.
But look closer at the pond… and the curious ramp in the corner
and you will see there is life …and new lifeΒ beginning.
As these frogs get fresh with one another.
I think we should leave them alone, don’t you?
I love that song. I hope these froggies get a happier ending to their courtship.
let’s hope so π
I can see why the pond is a popular spot – it looks very peaceful there (although perhaps isn’t actually if it is busy!). Looks like there are going to be lots of little froggies later in the year. π
It’s a sun-trap Elaine, which I think is why people congregate there. Nicely sheltered.
A nice place to sit with a book perhaps. π
I remember observing a pond with lots of frogs indulging in similar activities this time last year. Quite an orgy, possibly without much in the way of courtship!
Perhaps we just missed the courtship?
You are a romantic!
Look deep into the eyes of those two froggies. You can tell it is true love.
Ah, you ole romantic you β€ β€
Cute post..great pictures, as always.
Thanks Dawn. I’m going to try and snap some Easter decorated windows for you tomorrow (that is if it isn’t raining…)
Great idea!
The beech hedge outside Beetleypete Towers is still brown, and I am looking at it as I type. Nice to see a walled garden. I would love to have our garden ‘walled’, but the cots of bricks these days…
Regards as always, Pete. x
‘cost of bricks’ of course…I have no cots of bricks, I can assure you.
π
π
What about reclaimed bricks? Are they cheaper? Or perhaps you could build your own with mud and straw?
Oh my…….is this frog porn? I can’t believe you posted frog porn on your blog! How invasive! My goodness. Here I thought you were just a nice photographer like me and you’re out there actually taking pix of frog porn. Gonna have to rethink things about you……had been prepared to carry you out of a pub too, but now am wondering of you are a frogophile or something. Hmm…..
Hahaha… words fail me, I am laughing so much π π
Am glad I made you laugh!
There’s no privacy anywhere these days, is there? π π
I thought the shot in your Header was a statue/fountain(?), Jude. Your detailed shots are great. And I always like a singalong.
I actually sat on a park bench with a book yesterday!
In the sun? How nice… though I do find it hard to imagine you sitting still π
I’d been to t’ai chi and walked home in the morning. Our neighbours have a big cherry tree that throws a lot of shade so I then had to walk down to the park for a sunny spot! Am I off the hook now? π
You do so much exercise it tires me out Jo π
Is it that cherry tree you photographed? Looks amazing!
No, most of these are from last year, which was a fabulous year for blossom. The white’s out up here but not much of the pink yet. It’ll all happen in a rush π
Great title for your ‘Frogs’ porn’ pics, Jude. Frogspawn will no doubt soon be the result. π “In the spring a young frog’s fancy lightly turns to thoughts of love.”
Oh I love the way you did that – frogs’ porn. Heaven help me with the searches now!
This is a stunning place. Wonderful for a wander and a think; birdsong and sunshine. I bet it’s unbelievable in summer. Sigh. β€
I’ll go back in summer and see for you Tess.
Thanks so much. Now I’m happy. π
