Following on from Paula’s challenge last week which was all about lines, the WP challenge this week is about curves. Curves and lines are important ways in which to compose an image, and draw the viewer in. Curves are also fun to photograph.

A curvaceous entrance in to the walled garden leads you to all sorts of curves

Outside the walled garden is a pathway lined with mounds of neatly clipped yew

and a very curvy bird bath

Taken at Berrington Hall in Herefordshire last October. What curves inspire you?

I have lived in the UK for most of my life, but when young I definitely had wanderlust and even ended up living in South Africa for several years which was a wonderful experience. I now look forward to a long and leisurely retirement doing what I like most - gardening, photography, walking and travelling.

  1. These are so stunning but the arched wall and gate are especially dreamy, like something you’d find in a fantasy story. Sigh. Love it. Love them all. ❤ ❤ 🙂

  2. Love these curves, Jude….and I must have been there at some point, it looked a bit familiar

        1. Well of course you could have visited it as it is not that far from Church Stretton. It’s between Ludlow and Leominster.

    1. Thanks Cathy. Busy day in the garden, so many weeds to pull out and they just keep on coming! Good to be in the fresh air though.

  3. Well, you already know what I like 🙂 But I love that inviting archway. And the bench waiting at the end of overflowing borders.

    1. I am rather fond of a walled garden and this one is particularly pretty nowadays. I agree, that entrance does draw you in.
