I’m not a huge fan of descending a spiral staircase, but they do have aesthetic appeal.

I have lived in the UK for most of my life, but when young I definitely had wanderlust and even ended up living in South Africa for several years which was a wonderful experience. I now look forward to a long and leisurely retirement doing what I like most - gardening, photography, walking and travelling.

I’m in agreement on both counts, Jude!
Indeed! ❤ ❤ ❤
I used to have great problems getting ambulance cases down them, Jude. Still, better going down, than trying to get up them!
Regards as always, Pete. x
I agree, and they are particularly difficult because I have big feet!
Me too. 🙂
I hate that kind of staircase. I have to go down backwards. Very artistic image, though. 🙂
I am the same! Like a ladder! And why I dislike climbing towers in old castles where you have to come down forwards facing… gulp!
Been there, done that, not happily. 😕
Interesting shot, Jude 🙂 Not easy to slide down that banister, either!
Novak gone!
Wonder what Murray’s chances are now.? Still Federer and Raonic in who are dangerous.
Did you see Judy’s smile? I’m still missing Rafa 😦
Haha… yes I did!
Very aesthetic, and I like this minimalist, neat shot. Thanks, Jude.
I was going to post the whole of the staircase, but then I looked at it again and decided I preferred this cropped version which kind of hints at the danger of descent. Glad you like it! Not long to go before your hols now – you must be getting excited 😀
When I was a kid, I always wanted a house with a turret and a spiral staircase. What am I saying? I still do! I like a spiral staircase except if it’s one of those stone ones without the railing.
