Ailsa over at Where’s My Backpack has given me the perfect opportunity to post a few night shots from my recent Barcelona trip. As someone who now lives in the countryside, where the only light is that from the moon, it opened up new photographic challenges.

Great shots Jude!
Thanks Karen. It was so nice to be out at night!
Wonderful captures, Jude. 🙂 Especially with them all being handheld!
A fast lens!
Awesome photos!
Thank you.
You must have very steady hands, Jude. The first photo is fantastic.
The first one was by resting the camera on a railing, but I took quite a few shots before I got the aperture right, and even then several were too shaky!
I love my digital camera for that very reason. I can just keep on taking photos until I get one right!
Very good for hand-held shots indeed. I have a Joby Gorillapod, which can occasionally be useful. As long as I remember to take it out with me!
Regards as always, Pete. x
I usually have one with me too, but I only took the camera and two small lenses with me to Barcelona so I could carry them safely in my bag. Luckily one lens was my fast 45mm f1.8 prime which is a beauty in low-light conditions.
That’s a good lens for the money, Jude. I agree.
Been well worth it for inside churches. You just have to accept the limitations of how much you can fit in the frame.
The little Oly 45mm prime is a great little lens…I use it for around 50% of my shots, I reckon
I quite fancy the new 12mm f/2.0 lens but it is a little pricey at the moment.
I have a 14mm f2.5 Panasonic pancake lens which I bought secondhand and have been very pleased with – it’s my. ‘Go to ‘ street lens. Cost me £110, I think, so money well spent!
That is a good price. Secondhand may be the way to go.
Worth looking at
I love holding hands. Wait! That’s not what you meant? Love the photos too 😊
I love photos with light trails. They are always so interesting. Nice job 🙂
I love them too but hardly ever get the chance to take any photos of them. This was a perfect place to have a go.
Fun-fan-tas-tic. 😀 ❤ ❤
You did a great job with these handheld shots, Jude – I love the light trails!
Thanks Sue, I was quite pleased with them.
As was. I with some I took in Córdoba….must post them (well, I have shown one)
excellent hand-held shots Jude- no ghosting but wonderful traffic trails. I must get out at night too – Oxford Street lights now on 🙂
Thanks Laura – the ghost trails went into the bin!
I’ve been binning too – ghosts came out with my first attempt at the HDR setting
haunted digital results!
