Paula (Lost in Translation) set a very difficult and challenging photo challenge last week. It almost had me stumped. I had an idea in my head, but lacked the vision to translate the idea into an image. Conceptual photography is what she asked for. The art of creating photographs that illustrate an idea.

Be it an illustration of a story, a dramatic moment or even just some simple things in life that would bring a smile to your face, a good conceptual portrait should never leave you indifferent.
walk slowly and think quietly;
observe what is around you,
focus your mind.
breathe
slowly.
stay in control.
concentrate.
listen to nature.
birdsong;
the wind in the trees;
leaves
falling.
Mindfulness
Meditation
Calmness.
That profile of Buddha does look very serene, Jude.
Best wishes, Pete. x
Jude, I have no idea how you did it, but the result is powerful and enigmatic. I am guessing double image merger. It looks like a beautiful tapestry. Thank you for the verses that lead me through your creative image. Mindfulness is a wonderful concept to tackle. I was right – I love it š
Double image, double border, poster effect and lots of faffing around with levels and opacity. I had a couple of attempts, but liked this result the best. Glad you like it too š
Yes, very much!
I can’t say I know what to make of this other than I like it. Having read how you came to this result, I’m amazed. š ⤠ā¤
Yes it IS a challenge! Great post!
Thank you! This one was difficult.
I’m obviously not a conceptual person, Jude. I didn’t think Buddha till I read the comments. I like the end product but couldn’t really follow the thought process. š š
You can’t see the buddha head in the image? Buddha = meditation; Zen garden (overlaid) = calm; falling leaves = sound; autumn leaves = nature. Total = mindfulness
Oh, well, I can’t win them all š
I can now but I was clueless when I first looked. You know I’m skilled at being clueless. You had fun and Paula likes it. Job done! š š
I am sorry to have discombobulated you and thank you for enabling me to use that magnificent word š š
Discombobulate away! š
Kudos, Jude! I think I’m giving up on this one….
I only just squeezed in Sue. I had the idea, but actually creating an image to convey it was very hard. Definitely not my strength!
Well, you made a good fist of it!
Thank you!
wonderful
Thank you. š
Have a good Christmas Lisa
Well done Jude, I love this, it’s wonderfully creative and thought provoking as well. Did you enjoy doing it? Would you dabble again?I used to like playing with images, but rarely have time now.
Well done you Jude ! I’d have been wavering mightily as to how to tackle this challenge myself . Lots of creativity in processing here and a lovely end result !
Thank you Poppy, it was definitely challenging.
