For more about this photo please visit my post about the wonderful Franschhoek a town in South Africa’s Western Cape with centuries-old vineyards and Cape Dutch architecture.
Still time to join in with Becky’s (“A life of a 40 something”) March challenge of square photographs with the theme:
- ‘Squared Squares’ – think multiple squares and squares within squares
- ‘Squaring the Circle’ – the perfect post will be a circle within a square

Hmm… Barrels of wine. My kind of place. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete. x
I’m in agreement, Pete!
You would love it here Pete. Good wine, great food.
As am I!
😊
Love those old barrels!
They are lovely aren’t they.
Certainly!
Looks marvellous and I’m sure the wine is grand. Great take on the challenge, Jude!
All the wine I tasted at this vineyard was excellent.
Lovely colours, Jude. I don’t think there’s a drop in the house. Tragic! 😦
Now that IS tragic.
We used to get our wine from the wine cooperative of Franschhoek. I don’t know what it is like there today but way back it was a lot less touristy than Stellenbosch. I wonder, though, what the “pièce champenoise” on the barrels mean…
I wouldn’t be averse to quality controlling for them. Nice framing and colour scheme!
Me neither!
These circles seem to have been a complete hit – I wonder why?!!!!! 😉
There does seem to be a lot of oenophiles on here 😉
That’s such a fabulous word, describes us all perfectly.
I’ll have to Google that one Jude…
Cut in half they make good fish ponds, Would need to clean out well first or you would have tipsy fish…
Now there’s a thought…
We have a concrete look like barrel as a fish pond, looks good too what you can see of it among the plants…
