It’s June and another 30 day challenge from Becky. ‘The Life of B’ This month she is looking for a roof or roofs or even rooves. Follow the link for the rules.
A Dutch Reformed Gothic style church with thatched roof. Becky’s roof with the stepped gables yesterday reminded me that there is a lot of Dutch inspired architecture in South Africa.

Nice ‘pointy bits’, Jude! They keep that church in good order too.
Best wishes, Pete. x
The whole town is pretty well cared for Pete.
Love Franschhoek. Love the wine co-operative (not a chi-chi as other vineyard areas in South Africa). Re: Dutch influenced. It is … but tour the Camargue in the South of France and you will find that the French Hugueonots from that area had a big influence on what South Africans call “Dutch”. – Totally non-architectural: Have you ever had a merguez made of meat from the Camargue bulls? Notice any similarities to the typical flavour of a boerwors?
Interesting one, Jude, ‘pointy bits’ and all!
Interesting to see a church with a thatched roof.
Is it thatched? I can’t tell on my phone. Very pretty anyway xx
It is indeed. You back in the north yet?
Nope. Not till Wednesday evening xx
Well, ’tis glorious weather you’re missing. Should still be around when you get back. Be like still being in Tavira!
What a pretty mix!
What a stunning roof, and beautiful building. And the blue sky just finishes it off perfectly 🙂
I love the clean look of this building, and the pretty windows.
