Fort Lauderdale beach on a very windy and humid day
When we arrived in Fort Lauderdale after a long flight to Miami and an hours drive in a taxi from the airport to our hotel, the Fort Lauderdale Marriott Harbor Beach Resort, we decided to stretch our legs and go for a short walk. The walk was even shorter than expected as we had not realised just how hot and humid it was even in September. Before we even made it to the road we decided that perhaps a nice cold G&T in the bar would be more pleasant.

Excellent decision to make xx
Only sensible decision
G&T is always a refreshing option on a hot day. I love how you can see the wind in the trees.
It was very windy! I love those Palm trees. So American.
It’s so funny, Jude, I don’t think of palm trees as being American, but more Caribbean. Only in Florida and the far southwest, and then in California, would we find them. I do love them, and am always happy to encounter them. 🙂
I guess I have spent most of my time in the US in California! And watching a lot of American programmes/films 😀
It seems you have spent a lot of time in California, Jude. Florida as well, right? Those are probably two of the few places that have palm trees other than Arizona. 🙂 And to be honest, I’m not even sure about Arizona.
A few trips to CA and one to Florida and New England.
A very American scene indeed. I might not have left the bar either. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete. x
I think we may have had one or two cocktails at that bar!
Ouf…heat and humidity I do not do!
Me neither!
😟
Ha! That sounds very similar to the hike we didn’t have this week … but for the opposite reason. It was cold and windy and ‘somehow’ we ended up in a microbrewery taste testing beer instead 😆
Sounds like a good idea to me. Wet and stormy here too and I am full of cold so feeling very miserable.
Hope you’re feeling better soon, Jude. Having a cold is not fun 🤒
😦 Not as bad as it was on Thursday, when I had a banging headache, earache and toothache all day, just wish I could get a decent night’s sleep!
Ouch! I’m had those 😕
Great idea on a hot and humid day.
I haven’t been that far “down” in Florida yet. Maybe some other time. Both Mary and I would love to go to the Florida Keys.
Those gorgeous colours … respite from humidity is always a good idea.
I love the pop of colour the playground brings to this very dramatic photo.
