Monday Washing

Andrew of ‘Have Bag, Will Travel’ is running a weekly challenge all about photographs of washing lines. I knew I had a couple of rather lovely washing lines, but a look through my archives resulted in a few more. This one is from Malta.

Heyjude

I have lived in the UK for most of my life, but when young I definitely had wanderlust and even ended up living in South Africa for several years which was a wonderful experience. I now look forward to a long and leisurely retirement doing what I like most - gardening, photography, walking and travelling.

  1. All of you taking part in this have so many unusual washing line photos. Now why did I never think to take a photo of one? πŸ™‚
    Best wishes, Pete. x

  2. There is a plan to visit Malta in June… We’re just seeing if the mice and men have finished having their way first. 😊

    1. Malta is lovely. June might be hot! We’d love to go again and would stay in Valetta next time as all the island buses depart from there.

        1. I love it for the history, it’s not a beach island. I actually spent a month living in Paceville, St Julians back in 1979 when R and G were small.

        2. I don’t only like places with beaches. How on earth did you come to be living there with 2 kids? πŸ€”πŸ’•

        3. Travelling through Europe / North Africa with the ex, before he was an ex of course! He was trying to find work on the island, but was unsuccessful. Which is how we ended up in England for 9 months. I told you I had nomadic tendencies πŸ˜†

  3. Ha ha who would have really thought that a pic of washing clothes would matter some day πŸ˜‚ Lovely

  4. Love those stripes. Sheets or pillow-cases? I’ve never been to Malta, planned to twice but had to cancel. I should really go soon before everyone tries to find somewhere not too far from home for next trip. I see you recommend Valletta. That’s good to know, thanks.

    1. Valletta is lovely, so much history, you can walk around the harbour, catch a bus to practically anywhere on the island and even go over to Gozo (though we did that on a coach trip).

      1. I love local buses. When based in Avignon once we did the same and travelled all over Provence – just about saw Avignon on the last day.

  5. For me the reason for capturing images of clotheslines is that they’re so unique within our home environment. We’re far too conservative and image conscious to be hanging out our smalls πŸ˜‰ Good angle on Malta.

    1. Well only the cattle and the sheep can see my smalls when I hang them out here! And the farmer as he zips past on his tractor/4×4/quad bike.
