Bonus Gold

Watts Chapel near Guildford in Surrey – A golden terracotta girdle circles the interior with a series of flowers created by the village children. The altar gleaming in the gloom. More than 70 villagers worked alongside Mary Watts to create the tiles to help decorate the Chapel.
Beautiful!
Thanks Aletta, it is a stunning chapel.
That’s a lovely understated gold. Mine today are decorative too, but not in the sense that you mean: https://margaret21.com/2021/09/08/golden-moments-at-break-of-day-and-sunset/
As you know all my suggestions are open to interpretation. 😊
😉
How fabulous is that? Update me on yesterday, please.
It is unique Jo. When I get back that way I must make another visit to it in better light.
🤗💕
Should have been there at the end of August, but as you know things got in the way.
Ah, Watts chapel…it’s quite a sight ….I was bowled over the first time I saw it
Me too! I can’t believe how many times I must have passed that sign when I lived down there.
Often the way…..
Gold is always decorative: https://geriatrixfotogallerie.wordpress.com/2021/09/08/helmets-of-ancient-battles/
I was glad to be reminded of your detailed article from 2015 about this architectural gem.
It is a beautiful building that’s for sure.
Really fabulous! The Watts Chapel is now a place I want to visit, thanks to your lovely photographs. I think it’s great that local people, especially children, were involved in creating the tiles. That will be something special for their families to remember down the generations.
It is a unique chapel, I am so glad I eventually got to see it.
Good to be reminded of this treasure and your earlier post on same.
A reminder to me that I need to go back in better light and also find the owl frieze!
It is certainly a place for repeat visiting. So much detail to discover.
