For this week’s challenge, share a photo with letters — no matter the alphabet. As you look through your lens, think about how your image might convey something bigger: a snapshot of how we communicate with one another, even if we don’t speak the same language.
The Potting Shed
Do I need any more encouragement? Well, the open door invites you in even if you don’t read the language.
Words and pictures describe the history of the estate.

Most gardeners refer to plants by their Latin name, so everyone knows what it is. Common names can differ between countries and be quite confusing.

Every gardener needs pots and where better to keep them than in the potting shed.

And possibly a garden in a bottle? I once tried this, but wasn’t very successful. It is difficult to keep the temperature and moisture level to suit the plants, or in my case, they grow too big!
And what every gardener needs – tools!

(This post really should feature on Earth Laughs in Flowers, but I’m coming to the end of the April a to Z challenge on there so didn’t want to interrupt the flow. If you’d like to see more flowers then please pop over to see what’s happening there.)
I’m betting you were right at home here.
A potting shed is top of my list for when we move, a summerhouse is a close second 🙂
I like the processing you have done on the last photo. Like a sketch. Lovely.
Thanks Sue, it was a bit dark and the pencil drawing really brought out the shape of the tools. Glad you like 🙂
Oh I adore potting sheds…as well as summerhouses! Your day will come Jude, not long now… 🙂 xx
PS Great idea for the challenge, I’m still working on mine!!
Yes you really need a potting shed when you get to my age. Bending is not what I do well. I hope you’re right about it not being much longer 😉
Keep going…. 🙂
I love it! I’m expecting Peter Rabbit to topple that pile of terracotta pots any minute now 🙂
It is rather Peter Rabbitish!
There is a restaurant in Central London called the Potting Shed, in Dover Square. (Look it up ) It has excellent food, in a potting shed scenario. I can really recommend it. Expensive, but worth the money.
Great post Jude. Regards as always, Pete. x
Will do Pete!
Oh, a potting shed and a summerhouse sound like heaven. 🙂
Don’t they just!
Yes, I like the pencil effect too 🙂 I once had a jar in a bottle.
Happy travels, Jude 🙂
Great pics! I couldn’t think of a thing to do with ‘Letters’, but now I’ve seen some people’s posts and wonder how I missed all the interpretations. Your ‘pots in a potting shed’ pic is similar to one I took at Heligan. 🙂
Those flower pots reminded me of ‘Bill and Ben’, the flower pot men. 🙂 Did you happen to meet ‘Little Weed’? I used to love my dad’s potting shed, but it was much smaller and made of galvanised steel. Your post has brought back so many memories of long ago. 🙂
No weeds in this garden that I could see, but I do remember Bill and Ben and Weeeeed!! Glad it brought back good memories Sylvia.
Sheds are great as long as the many limbed monsters know their place!
haha… I take it you are not fond of spiders then Gilly?
