It’s that time of the year again…
…when people from miles around converge on this beautiful little Medieval market town for the Ludlow Food Festival. They come to attend numerous workshops and tastings, visit local producers, hit the sausage trail or try the pudding tastings, listen to top chefs deliver talks and demonstrations in the castle grounds or learn knife skills and attend Egyptian Masterclasses. This town of 10,000 people will double its population over the coming weekend.
On Sunday there will be a Local Producers’ Market with over 40 small, local food and drink exhibitors on the Market Square.
And, as usual, there is a Window Dressing Competition. So I took the camera around the town today (before the hoards arrive) to see what merchandise I could find.
I want to be at the all you can eat tastings festival!
There was plenty of tasting going on around town, though you had to have tickets for the sausage trail and the bread trail. I did manage to grab a Spanish sausage though which was very nice… the local produce market is better as then you can actually get to the stalls and have a taste of what they have to offer!
How divine – all those yummy things and goatsmilk soap too 🙂
Yes, I ought to try that soap, if only for the name!
Exactly what I was thinking 🙂
Marvellous festival Jude your photos are very enticing and very colourful. I love a good farmers market, or any sort of market really… 🙂
Well, this was just the window display PP. I went up on the Saturday to get some photos of the market, but it is always so busy on these festival weekends that it is impossible to take any decent photos. I have some from the normal local produce market which takes place twice a month so I’ll put up a post soon. Makes you drool though to go round all the stalls
It is hard to get photos when it is crowded Jude, but it can also add to the atmosphere with the crowds in the photo. I’ll look forward to drooling over your next market visit
Missed this first time around! I may have been in the Algarve. I love the Twiglets comment in the window 🙂 It may not be by the sea, Jude, but Ludlow does have a lot to offer.
That’s so true Jo, which makes moving so difficult. As a small town it offers a lot – just not a coast! Maybe I need to have a rethink…
See my suggestion on the walks 🙂 🙂
