I have lived in the UK for most of my life, but when young I definitely had wanderlust and even ended up living in South Africa for several years which was a wonderful experience. I now look forward to a long and leisurely retirement doing what I like most - gardening, photography, walking and travelling.

  1. Oh, I love this photo. It reminds me a little of Lynn’s work at Bluebrightly. I’m glad you made it safely to Scotland. Are you excited about meeting Jo tomorrow? Have fun!!

        1. You were right 🙂 Had a lovely day – walked our socks off and now I am lying on the bed with the feet up and enjoying a glass of red wine!

        2. I’m glad you two had a great time. And a glass of red wine is the perfect way to top off the day. Lying on the bed is usually how I end up too! 🙂

  3. It is odd, but I always felt that Scotland was part of England. It is not, but at the same time I am puzzled that Scotland wants to stay in the EU, while Brexit happened in the UK.
    But, you photo is so lovely and overcomes all political shenanigans.

    1. I can’t see how Scotland can really support itself, but hey ho.. it is a lovely part of the UK and after a week of the flatness of the east I am looking forward to seeing some mountains next week! That is if the weather permits 🙂

    1. But you are still having good weather I believe. It has been rather foggy oop north over the last couple of days. What a contrast! Sweating madly in Durham on Tuesday – then 10 degrees less in Alnwick on Wednesday!

      1. It was over 30 again here today, Jude. To be honest, the last few days have been uncomfortable in the evenings and nights, with it not dropping below 21. The forecast is for rain tomorrow, with a top temperature of 19. I expect I will be complaining about the weather again by the weekend…

    1. Cleared up as we reached Edinburgh yesterday and today was lovely. Hope it continues for another week!

    1. Restless blogger is lovely – we had a great day and now my feet are suffering! Sending you refrains of a bagpipe and the smell of haggis in a whisky sauce … 🙂

  8. You must have gone right past me in Manchester, Jude! It’s been beautiful here – sunny and warm, but rain is forecast so it’s time to move on. Lakes District, here we come.

    1. We went up the east coast Carol, which was lovely and hot and sunny until Northumberland on Wednesday! Good luck in the Lakes – there is a reason it is called that 🙂

      1. That route would be delightful. We arrived in the Lakes this morning after a short drive from Manchester. It was overcast and gloomy there but here the day has been beautiful and sunny, although the temperature was a little cool for us.

    1. I have been drawn to the droplets on the flowers this week – hard not to be! And whenever I see one in decay I instantly think of you 🙂 Jo and I had a fab day – nattering and walking our socks off!
