If you fancy a distraction from the weather this month then join in with Becky’s (“A life of a 40 something”) March challenge of square photographs with the theme:
- ‘Squared Squares’ – think multiple squares and squares within squares
- ‘Squaring the Circle’ – the perfect post will be a circle within a square
Since Becky spends a lot of her time in Portugal I think she might like my first entry.
March Square | 1st March
These tiles are so beautiful.
To be found all over Portugal. Certainly brighten up the streets 🙂
I remember seeing them everywhere when I visited Portugal.
I love these! They are stunning, what a fabulous first entry 😀 thank you for starting with these. Where were these azulejos?
Somewhere in Lisbon, Becky. Hoping that you are not too strict on the ‘square’ / ’round’ formats as I have taken a few liberties with some of my squares 😉
Definitely not going to be strict – just wait until you see some of mine!!!!
Oh good as I have some roundish/squarish items, but all in a square of course 😀
That’s all that counts in the end!!!
Somewhere in Lisbon isn’t really good enough Jude? Just back from a fabulous flamenco night xx
Cor you are a hard master… OK, it was at the miradouro de santa luzia in Alfama. That do you? Some lovely tiles there, but also in disrepair sadly.
Are you still clicking the castanets then? And twirling the skirt?
Almost sat on the stage last night we were so close! Did anyone ever tell you sherry and wine don’t mix? Great night though. I have a couple of pics up on Instagram. No time to blog. Cathedral is astounding. Doing Alcazar in the rain this morning then driving back xx
Never used Instagram. And personally I don’t think sherry goes with anything! Except trifle 😀 😀
It’s quick and easy to share photos from my phone. 🙂 At some point I will show you a delectable sherry flavoured dessert I had one evening. Can’t remember when I last saw such rain and the poor palm trees were bent double in Jerez. A mini tornado hit Faro in our absence and a bar in the marina lost it’s roof. We were sat there just a week or two ago. 😦
Ah, well, I hardly ever use my phone to take photos, only to share with the family over WhatsApp. The weather is definitely weird this year. I assume you are ‘home’ now safely. Should be all over by the time you hit Hartlepool next week.
I didn’t use to but it’s a useful alternative. Yes, home and just about to download my photos then cook tea xx
it seems like Armenian Ceramic Titles….
Had to look those up, yes the blue and white ones do look similar.
I bought similar tiles in Amsterdam once. We used to use them as coasters. Something about that simple blue and white is so appealing.
Best wishes, Pete.
It sure is. I have a couple of tiny blue and white plant pots and they are really lovely.
How pretty Jude.
Thank you 🙂
Lovely, Jo!
??? I know she gets everywhere…
True!
I love blue and white. These tiles are special.
Sadly a lot of them here were in a very poor state.
Good start to a month of interesting challenges.
These are lovely, and remind me of the sorts of tiles I associate with the Netherlands. You have persuaded me to join the challenge. 🙂
Oh, Becky will be pleased!
