Becky’s September square photo challenge Day 19! She would like us to share photos which embrace ‘pink’ – there could be pink in the photo, the subject or photographer could be ‘tickled pink’*, or indeed looking ‘in the pink’*. A photo that manages to do all three things is the ultimate offering.
Frida Kahlo Scarecrow in Trengwainton Gardens
Frida Kahlo was an artist born on 6 July 1907 in Mexico. She had planned to follow a medical career, but a near-death bus accident when she was 18 years old left her with life-long pain and disabilities. During her recovery she returned to a childhood love of painting and went on to become a world-renowned artist inspired by her country’s culture, nature and ancient artefacts.
The scarecrow exhibition in the walled kitchen garden at Trengwainton is an eagerly awaited annual event, and this year’s theme of Inspirational Women commemorates 100 years since some women received the right to vote.
*‘in the pink’ means in perfect condition, or in good health, and ‘tickled pink’ means delighted.
September Squares | Pink
Frida was a little ‘scary’, I concede. But that scarecrow is far from flattering. 🙂
Still, there is pink there!
Best wishes, Pete. x
Aw, I quite liked this one.
Oh, HOW amazing! As Pete says, hardly flattering!
maybe it is the angle!
Is this better?
oh!!! Not sure what to say now . . . . think it might be, just slightly worried about her cheeks! Fabulous picture though 🙂
Who knows!
And another extraordinary woman that the primary school children included in our competition ‘who is your heroine’!
A good choice!
This version of Frieda put big smiles on our faces! 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂
I thought it was fabulous with the hair and the roses 🙂
That is an unusual scarecrow
They were all very interesting.
Almost as adorable as Elaine’s characters on a bench 😃😃
Haven’t seen them yet. It has been one of those days. Busted tap and couldn’t find the stop cock, plus bad stuff going on with MiLs carers. Sigh…
Don’t know if my reply sent? WiFi iffy 😕😕
Hmm, not sure I would have guessed Frida Kahlo even with the supplementary picture, but as a scarecrow she would work!
🙂
What a vision! She’s been captured very well in scarecrow form I think – the colours, the drama, the pattern…
That’s what I like about it!
I don’t know about the crows, but I am scared!
