A bonus Suffolk Pink
In true Suffolk countryside you will find Wyken Hall Gardens and Vineyard, home to Kenneth and Carla Carlisle. The 400 year old Suffolk barn houses the Leaping Hare country store, which sells some very beautiful wares along with their award winning wine, a café and the Leaping Hare Vineyard restaurant.

The house itself has a copper red lime wash which is what ‘Suffolk Pink’ was in Elizabethan times. The southern veranda has five lovely blue rocking chairs brought over from Mississippi and is shaded by columns of Spartan apples, espaliered high so they do not block the view from the house.

That’s pretty, I didn’t realise Suffolk Pink was so rich a shade.
It varies, this is the deepest shade I have seen. A very pretty house. And garden.
Fabulous link! Thanks for that.
Definitely worth a visit if you are ever down that way.
Love those chimneys! 🙂 🙂 I have actually seen a few pink buildings since we spoke about it last. Don’t think I’ve photographed many though.
Just one will do. Nicely squared even…
What a beautiful building, and lovely pink.
I wonder if Wyken Hall Vineyard also produce a rose… I’m imagining a soft blush pink, perhaps with bubbles..?! 🙂
You would think that they would! I know they do a nice sparkling wine.
What a pretty house. I’d love to see inside.
Sadly the inside is private, but I know what you mean, it must be quite something.
That’s a lovely house – I had imagined a paler shade of pink, but this looks perfect on that house.
I think, if I remember correctly, that this is the original Elizabethan colour of Suffolk Pink.
What fun the pinks are bringing us this month!
I’ve gone blossom today – just couldn’t resist! https://travelwithintent.com/2021/04/22/blossom-time/
So much blossom around this month! Although it is so windy here today that not much is going to survive!
Interesting that rocking chairs would have been brought over from Mississippi. Here’s a brief article about rocking chairs in general: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rocking_chair.
I have a vague idea that the lady of the house was from there.
