Bearded Irises ‘Kent Pride’ or ‘Pride of Kent’, a cultivar known for its distinct chestnut-brown standards and yellow falls
Seen growing among Bronze Fennel at RHS Wisley. I have the Bronze Fennel, I think I need to buy some of these irises to plant with it.
Bearded Iris ‘Kent Pride’ (often referred to as ‘Pride of Kent’) is a classic, award-winning tall bearded iris bred in the 1950s. It is highly prized for its rich, burnished coppery-brown tones
I have lived in the UK for most of my life, but when young I definitely had wanderlust and even ended up living in South Africa for several years which was a wonderful experience. I now look forward to a long and leisurely retirement doing what I like most - gardening, photography, walking and travelling.

I bet they cost a pretty penny
Not really, less than a fiver for a bare root. Of course to get this effect you need more than one!
Over here they are $10 to $30
What a wonderfully warming combination. I love bearded iris, but you do need to give them a nice big sunny bed of their own.
That’s true, and where my bronze fennel is located is not the sunniest spot in the garden.
That’s an unusual colour for an iris. Beautiful.
Very different. I do like the brown / bronze colours.
I love these bronzed iris They were common in France, but I’ve never seen them here in the UK, despite their Kentish name.
Probably all over the Chelsea flower show!
Very likely! Are you going?
I wouldn’t enjoy the crowds and you probably see more of the designer gardens on the TV as the public can’t enter them.
Agreed!
Gorgeous color!
Aren’t they? Certainly caught my eye.
Such a lovely copper colour, and beautifully photographed too.
Best wishes, Pete. x
They are rather wonderful. My kind of colours.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen one of these before. They’re so beautiful with that coppery colour.
The colours I like.
What a stunning color!
Gorgeous isn’t it.
It certainly is.
It’s spectacular, isn’t it! xx
Gorgeous colour and I love the bronze ones I saw in Dorset too.
Gorgeous!
