The last of my transport posts, this month features this lovely iconic bus from Gozo as well as my last historic streetcar from San Francisco.

Kansas City, Missouri-Kansas 1056, built in 1948. This car is painted in tribute to Kansas City, which ran PCC streetcars from 1941 to 1957. Kansas City’s PCCs – 184 in all – were painted to emphasize their modern lines, with a black ‘swoosh’ on the sides to highlight the logo of Kansas City Public Service Company (KCPS), which featured Frederic Remington’s famed sculpture “The Scout” on a red heart.

I have lived in the UK for most of my life, but when young I definitely had wanderlust and even ended up living in South Africa for several years which was a wonderful experience.     I’m afraid I had no luck with black or grey transport, although come to think of it we do have some military plane photos, but I will give them a miss. 🙂 So I decided to include some car chit chat in my contribution.

  4. The curved lines of the Malta bus remind me of the old country bus (once a day) from my childhood. On the way back into the country from the town, deliveries would be made. I used to be amused at the accuracy with which newspapers were thrown out the window towards the houses…fortunately grocery orders weren’t delivered like that! It was a life-saver for lots of isolated houses along a 40 or so mile journey into the back of beyond.

    1. Very much 1950s buses, sadly now replaced by a more modern fleet. It’s a pity we don’t have travelling grocers now.

  5. Interesting photos of the Trolleys in San Franciso, omg its amazing they kept up those old vehicles over all these years. Toronto has Streetcars, and many of them are extremely modern. Not too many cities left with these kinds of systems.
