postcard from america

This is farewell to my series of postcards from America. I shall leave you with one last view of the iconic Bay bridge as depicted on one of the lovely Heart installations in Union Square.

It won’t however be farewell to posts about my USA trips as I still have several ideas and photos that have yet to be published.

home thoughts from abroad

Home thoughts from abroad is a new series on Travel Words featuring a single photograph that reminds me of a country visited and showing something that uniquely identifies it as being ‘abroad’.

One of the best things about Prague is the transport system. Buy a pass to cover how long you are in the city to make it easy to get around. Trams and the metro are plentiful and hopping from one to the other simple. Although  I prefer to walk around a city, we stayed a little way out of the centre and the weather wasn’t all that good in late September. Cold and wet. So I happily used trams to take me closer to where I wanted to explore.

Sunset over Hyde Street Pier San Francisco

People don’t often associate San Francisco with beaches, but there are some around. One of the reasons I like to stay in Fisherman’s Wharf is the fact that I can go down to the beach at sunset and see the colours over the bay. The historic ships at Hyde Street Pier add to the atmosphere.
